ARCHIVE @ WATER

experiments and works in water (2019-2021)

Untitled (2018)

A long durational 3h piece: 2 performers sit in 2 high chairs placed against a border wall in water in a harbour, in Aalborg on a spring morning. The water covers part of their legs. Their bodies lie naked under the yellow fabric covering their skin.
The ephemerality of time lingers, their bodies merge with the waters as time goes by.

The Invisible Refuge(e)

The experiment begins with a ritualistic procession walk from the theatre onto a harbour in Aalborg. Poems and stories are professed, in Arabic, Danish and English. Sounds of a walking contrabass with an oud playing live resonating with the words out loud. The audience gathers walking, walking. We arrive at the harbour and four bodies start dancing until they jump into the water. They move in and out of water while they carry black boards they pass to the audience to write blurbs of experiences, loss, joys, and vulnerability. The audience chooses to write whatever they associate with the movements, the procession previously taken in the streets on the way to the harbour. The performers wash the boards again and again with new words written onto them. They swim and climb the platforms in the middle of the water moving with the boards erasing the chalk in the water.

Performed with Sandra Pedersen, Annette Irene, Laurentiu Stefan, Nader Alkasem, Ihab Bishara Lolas, Albert Østergaard
