dispel is a sonically animated text-based work-in-progress performance piece. Two Black queer oracle personae work at a fictitious company called Nordic Melancholy where they are tasked with conjuring curses and prophecies for a living directed towards the Danish psyche. Yet, the oracles get tricked by their own gifts as their oracular power undoes itself through futures that refuse to be known. The performance personae are played by the long-time Copenhagen-based collaborator duo body_hacker (Sall Lam Toro) and suziethecockroach (Alma Silva), who bring humour, intensity, subversive wordplay, and otherworldly mystery to the writing of these texts, accompanied by Asta Norborg’s soundscape compositions..

This is a work in progress showing at Vermillion Sands gallery in Nørrebro as part of the Skabninger Samlinger’s performance series program curated by Storm Møller Madsen and Sara Hamming in collaboration with Astrid Nocks Atelier.
