For this instance of Diasporic Life – Black Solidarity / Towards Liberation at Metro54, body_hacker (aka Sall Lam Toro) conjures a sonic trance that is both meditation, poetry, lecture, and ceremony based on the anticolonial revolutionary legacy of Abel Djassi. Also know famously as Amilcar Cabral, an agronomist, poet, militant fighter and one of the many Pan-Africanist outstanding leaders of the PAIGC - The African Party for the Independence of Guiné-Bissau and Cape Verde.
body_hacker orchestrates Meditations on Abel Djassi as an explicit shapeshifter speaker that intimately converses withthe subliminal parts of our everyday exhaustion, struggle and fight to live dignified realities in this world, together. It reminds us to call on the power of dreaming with vision, sharp tenacity and creativity within us and our comrades in our struggle to be free.
The sonic trance compiles glitch-y-fied fictitious conversations, recorded communiqués, poems and speeches of Djassi, mixed with sound samples and live noise instrumentation composed as an inducive trance addressing our current and future imaginary as a continuous interruption. Such interruption, acts onto the scarcity of hope we find ourselves to live by these days, amidst unprecedented times marked by deadly state violence, the rise of global fascism, extractivism, genocide, and war all around us.
A luta continua.
Performing at Metro54 on the 17th July 18:00
